Combined Tyre & Alloy Insurance provides protection for both tyres and alloy wheels against accidental and malicious damage, combining the key benefits of each product into one policy.

No matter how careful you are as a driver, accidents can happen.

As the contact point between your car and the road, tyres are especially susceptible to unexpected damage, such as punctures, tears, scrapes, and kerbing. These can be costly, with prices quickly mounting up. Why not protect yourself and your vehicle with Combined Tyre And Alloy Wheel Insurance from Direct Gap?

  • Covers 4 alloy claims per year
  • Covers 4 tyre claims per year
  • Covers accidental and malicious damage
  • Cover available for 1 - 3 years
  • Nationwide repair network
  • Covers vehicles up to 10 years old
  • Covers vehicles up to 100,000 miles
  • Fitting and balancing included

Why Should I Consider Tyre & Alloy Insurance?

It’s crucial that you look after your tyres. If something were to happen to them, whether that’s structural damage from punctures or cosmetic damage such as scrapes, they could make your car harder to handle or even worse; completely unsafe to drive.

Meanwhile, whilst alloy wheels can make for the perfect finishing touch, they’re also at risk of easy damage from kerbs or light collisions.

Either way, repairs are often unforeseen and expensive, which is where the peace of mind from Tyre & Alloy Insurance comes in.

Two Great Products, All In One Policy

At Direct Gap we like to keep things simple, which is why we offer combined Tyre & Alloy Insurance, giving you both products in one and providing total coverage. Here’s a little bit about the two:

  • Tyre Insurance: Keep your tyres protected against all the road has to throw at them, with coverage for 4 claims per year.
  • Alloy Wheel Insurance: Keep your wheels looking perfect with coverage for 4 alloy claims per year.

FAQ

What is Tyre and Alloy Insurance and what does it cover?

Tyre and Alloy Insurance covers the cost of parts and labour to carry out repairs to alloys or tyres that have suffered accidental or malicious damage. This policy covers you for up to 4 alloy wheel claims and 4 tyre claims per year of coverage.

Is Tyre and Alloy Insurance worth it?

Even when the damage seems fairly small, repairs can still prove pricey. And if you decide not to do anything about the issue, your vehicle may not be safe to drive. Plus, fixing it further down the line could turn out to be even more expensive. A Tyre and Alloy Insurance policy from Direct Gap means you are safe in the knowledge that any accidental damage will be covered in full.

Does car insurance cover alloys and tyres?

The majority of motor insurance policies will cover minor cosmetic damage to your wheels, but these repairs are likely to cost less than your excess. Meanwhile, the likes of punctures, cuts or bursts and any damage caused by braking will not be covered by most insurers.

So, taking out a Tyre and Alloy Insurance policy could still prove a sensible choice. It means you won’t have to fork out a fortune for repairs or replacements and you’ll avoid having to risk your no-claims bonus when fixing what is relatively minimal damage.

Does Gap Insurance cover tyres and alloy wheels?

No, they are two separate policies. The idea of Gap Insurance is to cover the depreciation between your car’s value at the point of purchase and your motor insurer’s settlement when that vehicle is written off. Tyre and Alloy Insurance is the most appropriate form of cover in instances where the damage is confined to the wheels or tyres, but it can only be bought in combination with a Gap Insurance policy.

Is Tyre and Alloy Insurance only for new cars?

No, you can take out Tyre and Alloy Insurance provided your vehicle is not over ten years old and has not done more than 100,000 miles. For a full list of exclusions, please refer to your policy wording.

Can I get Tyre and Alloy Insurance if I bought my car on finance?

Yes. As long as your cover is purchased in conjunction with a Gap Insurance policy, it doesn’t matter to us whether you bought your car up front or on finance.

Will I be covered by Tyre and Alloy Insurance if I'm at fault?

Yes, if the damage to your alloys or tyres occurs as a result of fault on your part, this policy will still cover the cost of the repairs. Please note, however, that any damage as a result of fraud, false actions or dishonesty will not be covered. Your policy document contains a comprehensive list of the exclusions that apply.

How old can my car be for me to buy Tyre and Alloy Insurance?

Up to ten years old when you take out the policy. Your car must also have covered fewer than 100,000 miles at this time.

Are there any wear and tear deductions?

No, there is no charge for betterment, but the tyres and alloys must comply with the legal requirements.

Can anyone drive my car and still be covered by my Tyre and Alloy Insurance?

Yes, as long as the individual is a named driver on your comprehensive motor insurance policy.

Am I covered for malicious damage?

Yes, your Tyre and Alloy Insurance policy will cover malicious damage provided a police report is available.

Whose name should the policy be in?

The policy should always be in the name of the owner/hirer or registered keeper of the vehicle.

How do I take out Tyre and Alloy Insurance?

We like to keep things simple, and taking out Tyre and Alloy Insurance with Direct Gap is certainly straightforward. To get a quote online, all you have to do is enter the desired term of your policy (1-3 years) and the claim limit.

Of course, should you wish to speak to a member of our friendly team, just get in touch and we’ll be able to talk you through the process of taking out a policy. You can contact us by phoning 01422 756100 or by sending an email to [email protected]

Is there a waiting period?

Yes, for the first 14 days of your cover, no claim will be accepted. This also applies to our Scratch and Dent Insurance.

When and how do I receive my policy documents?

Your Tyre and Alloy Insurance documents, together with confirmation of payment, are sent by email as soon as you make the purchase. You may also access your documents through your online account.

How do I claim on my Tyre and Alloy Insurance?

If your alloys or tyres become damaged, call the claims handler on 0114 321 9878  within 30 days. Your handler will then tell you what you need to do to submit your claim. They may ask for photographs as supporting evidence. If the damage is malicious you will need to obtain a crime reference number from the police.

Will a claim on my Tyre and Alloy Insurance affect my no-claims bonus?

No, rest assured that claiming with this form of cover will not affect your motor insurance policy.

Is an excess payable on this policy?

Yes, a £10 excess is payable on all Alloy Wheel claims. This helps us reduce the risk of fraud which keep the cost of our policies down.

Why would my Tyre and Alloy Insurance not pay out?

This policy does not cover wear and tear or anything relating to a tyre or wheel that has been fitted since the period of cover began. It also excludes any claim that comes as a result of a road traffic accident, fire, theft or flood, and there won’t be any payout for claims where the tyre’s tread does not comply with UK law. The examples mentioned here are just some of the exclusions that apply; for a full list, please consult your policy wording.

Are any wheels excluded?

Yes – alloy wheels with a chrome-effect finish or split-rim construction.

How much does Tyre and Alloy Wheel Insurance cost?

Our Tyre and Alloy Insurance quotes start from just £229. However, the cost of your premium will depend on the length of the policy and the make and model of your vehicle. To find out how much your premium will be, hit the button below and get your quote in a matter of seconds.

We are an internet-based provider, so we have lower overheads than motor dealers. We sell a high volume of insurance, which means we can provide quality policies at the keenest prices.

You can be confident that our prices are lower than those quoted by dealers and many other websites. Paying less than you have been quoted elsewhere does not mean you are buying an inferior product; it just means others are making more profit from your purchase!
